I am having the same issue too. The only workaround I found is the change message.attachement.type to file, which does not results in an error. On the other it does render as an image in Messenger but in a file that need to be downloaded.

Getting a bunch of these errors in the past 14 days. Any way to fix? Did anyone try to retry the request?

Hi ! We are facing same problem since this morning.
When uploading image to endpoint : https://graph.facebook.com/v13.0/xxx/media, we've got
An unknown error has occurred.
We have test uploading media hosted on two different locations (both hosted on our servers). The productions url always result in error, while staging url result in success
Same this is transient for us and often involves video uploading.

Same here
We changed the robots.txt and added
User-agent: facebookexternalhit
Allow: /
It took a few hours to update, but afterwards it looks like the problem is fixed. Maybe other can try this as well. Maybe it helps.

Recently, we have started encountering errors when uploading attachments. Without any changes to the API or related usage, uploading the same image URLs has begun failing with the error message:
"message": "(#100) Upload attachment failure.", with "error_subcode": 2018047
Based on our internal testing across different conditions, we have ruled out factors like request headers, firewalls, domains etc. Finally, using https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/, we discovered that the images failing to upload are unable to retrieve image size and hashes. However, these images can retrieve such metadata successfully on other third-party services.
