My Meta Pixel on Facebook is tracking multiple purchases within a single session
My Meta Pixel on Facebook is tracking multiple purchases within a single session, meaning it's overcounting purchases. When I reached out to Meta, they told me that this is caused by the software I use on my website. I’m using custom software. Has anyone experienced this issue before?
👋 Hello Biray, Yes I faced this type of problem lots of may be 50+. I have some questions if you give this question answer we will assistance you properly. 1. What is your CMS like Shopify, WordPress or others ⁉️ 2. Which software are you use? 3. Are you install server side tracking like Conversion API?
Say something to Solutions: 👉 Check Pixel Placement Ensure the purchase event is only firing on the "thank you" or confirmation page and not on any intermediate pages or actions.
👉 Implement Event Deduplication use a unique event ID with each purchase event. Configure your Meta Pixel to ignore duplicate events with the same ID.
👉 Modify Trigger Logic update the custom software to: Trigger the purchase event only when a new order is confirmed. Prevent it from firing on page reloads.
👉 Review Pixel Helper Use Meta’s Pixel Helper to monitor and debug pixel firing behavior. Verify whether the purchase event is firing multiple times during a single session.
👉 Update or Adjust Custom Software Code If Meta has indicated that the issue is due to your custom software, collaborate with your developers to review and fix the code triggering the purchase event.
👇👇👇 Consider implementing server-side tracking to better control and deduplicate events, ensuring only one purchase event is recorded per transaction.
I will suggest you to install pixel and Conversion API Tracking in your website use Google Tag Manager and use server (Stape or Google cloud)
